Dr. Whitney Roberson Miranda, OD, received her Doctorate of Optometry from Salus University at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2014. Prior to optometry school, she graduated in 2004 within the top 10% of her Edgewater High School class and attended South Carolina State University. Dr. Miranda joined many prestigious organizations such as The South Carolina Alliance Minority Participation program, Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She received her Bachelor of Science as Magna Cum Laude in Biology and minored in Chemistry in 2008.
In 2009, Dr. Miranda was accepted in the Summer Enrichment Program at Salus University at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. The Summer Enrichment program was an intense 6-week optometry course for future optometry students. She completed the program with high honors and was accepted at Salus University in 2010. Dr. Miranda was actively involved in the community, providing vision screenings at health fairs and Philadelphia schools as chairperson of ODs of Tomorrow for the National Optometric Student Association.
During her education at Salus University, Dr. Miranda received clinical honors and completed her specialized rotations in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy, Contact Lenses and Cornea health, Ocular Disease and Low Vision Rehabilitation. She sustained clinical practice in providing primary eye care and co-management for postoperative care. This included management of anterior and posterior ocular diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Dry eye Syndrome and corneal dystrophies. She prescribed corrective lenses for refractive errors and specialty fitting for soft and hard contact lenses which includes scleral and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses.
Dr. Miranda provides eye care in Kissimmee, FL with Clarkson Eyecare. She sees patients for all eye care needs, including pediatrics beginning at 6 months of age and above - with focus in neuro-processing training for patients with binocular vision issues and special needs.
